Better than Berlin? Vote for your No.1 !

I always say that Berlin is the best place on earth. And deep inside, that’s exactly how I feel. Although if I’m honest, I can’t deny its shortcomings (only a few;-) especially when compared to other cities I like. Cities I’ve visited once or several times. So I thought I’d make a list (the choice of places to compare is quite personal) and write down some pros and cons for each, based on 7 criteria: location, safety, prices, lifestyle, climate, food and urban design.

Criteria like job market, business and medical care are common within such rankings, but since I haven’t actually LIVED in all those cities and thus I cannot build my own opinion, I’ll leave them out.

I’m looking forward to your opinions and comments. I’m sure you all love your own cities or maybe prefer others you’ve visited.

Please vote for your favourite city underneath this table. Let’s go!:)

  1. Having visited a few of the cities on the list (Berlin, Barcelona, Paris and London), I voted for Berlin 🙂 I felt very safe walking around Berlin. Barcelona is great too for urban design. Lucky you visiting all those amazing places! I’d love to visit Reykjavik! Great post!

      1. The city is not really cheap…But if you rent a car and start driving to… literally ANYWHERE 😂, you’ll find the cutest huts and pensions for a reasonable amount of money.

      2. I can recommend you a great hotel right in the city centre. It’s not expensive and very arty / alternative. If you’re interested, I can send you a link on your email, so I don’t unintentionally advertise here:)

  2. Hmm, I’d have to put Cape Town in there, as it scores high on everything, except safety.
I had to look up ‘urban design’, but what I like about CT is that it isn’t all regimented and squares. Each place has its own unique character. However, the transport is not as good as Berlin.
    A nice post – You’ve been to a Lot of places! 🙂

    1. Yes, I guess one could say I have. I spend all my money on travels:))) I love getting to know different cultures and mingling with locals. And trying all kinds of foods:) But I still haven’t been to CT, see?:) It’s on my list. Thanks !

    1. Thanks! Please add your favourites, I’m looking forward to it:) I only made a list of cities I’ve been to myself and liked:)

Or shall we create a more complex ranking? The wordpress city ranking?….What do you think?
